A.L.I.C.E.

In 2011 Watson won Jeopardy, and boundaries between the real, the artificial and the reproduced are becoming uncanny.

A.L.I.C.E. is a performance work developed through long conversations with this same Chatbot. Using these conversations as choreographic as well as linguistic framework, the interactions between the actual and the virtual intertwine through the responses of the live body, which is triggered by an automated voice, to the movement it produces, which is reproduced from an apparent anterior archive on computer screens. The direction of command from virtual to actual is initially clear, though throughout the performance
becomes blurry.

A.L.I.C.E. presents a landscape where these relations play themselves out and stir towards different directions.
